👩‍🔬 Meet the winner: In a moment of great honor at the Brazilian Symposium on Telecommunications and Signal Processing 2023, held in São José dos Campos, SP, the brilliant student Martina Marques Jardim was awarded the prize for best scientific initiation article in the area of ​​signal processing.   1. Academic Affiliation: Martina is currently in the 7th period of the Undergraduate course in Electronic and Computer Engineering, in the Electronics Department of the renowned institution.
  2. Academic Experience: As a FAPERJ scholarship holder, she immerses herself daily in scientific challenges, in addition to being a scholarship monitor at the Escola Politécnica, demonstrating an exceptional commitment to education and research.
  3. Passion for Applied Mathematics: Her research interest focuses on applied mathematics, with an emphasis on machine learning, artificial intelligence, and signal processing. For her, these areas represent an exciting opportunity to apply the fundamental concepts of linear algebra to practical and innovative solutions.
  4. The Depth of Research: Martina is participating in an innovative project that addresses a significant gap in the teaching of linear algebra at the undergraduate level. Realizing the difficulties faced by students in understanding the theory and practical application of linear algebra, she and her team dedicated themselves to creating an interactive virtual environment, revolutionizing the way the subject is taught and absorbed.

The Award-Winning Article: Her article explains how the infrastructure for this project is being built: “We report which tools were used and tested to create and host this environment, such as Binder and JupyterLite. The latter is the tool we adopted to build the environment, since it is hosted with GitHub Pages and allows the environment to be accessed via a URL, on any device with internet access (computer, notebook, cell phone, etc.). We consider this to be one of the most important features of the construction of this project, since it guarantees accessibility to the platform. The content and interactive examples are provided in Jupyter Notebooks. This file type allows for markdown text and code execution. The interactive examples are written in Python, which is a high-level language that has its own libraries for interactivity in linear algebra applications.”
