SMT / PEE / COPPE student Wesley Lobato Passos and his advisor Eduardo Antonio Barros da Silva received one of the "Latin America Research Awards" given by Google annually. There were 25 scholarships in all, 15 from Brazil and 10 from the rest of Latin America. There have been 679 submissions this year.
With the search automatic detection of foci of aedes aegypti mosquitoes using videos obtained by drones, Wesley and Prof. Eduardo attended the ceremony at the Google office in Belo Horizonte on 11/19/2019. Also participating in this work are Profs. Sergio Lima Netto of SMT and Prof. Gabriel Matos Araújo from CEFET-RJ, as well as several masters and undergraduate students from COPPE / UFRJ and CEFET-RJ.
